Earlier this week, we reported on Bubba, a 3-year-old Hawaiian boy suffering from amniotic band syndrome, a condition that caused him to be born without fingers on one hand.

The young boy was a lucky recipient of a 3D-printed hand, donated to him by E-Nable, a nonprofit group. Bubba called his 3D prosthetic his “Iron Man” hand. And now, we have a different story about another young boy with a superhero limb.

Like Bubba, the boy, who remains anonymous, was in need of a new hand. His family turned to E-Nable for assistance in finding a prosthetic for the young boy.

The nonprofit found him a special prosthetic: a yellow and blue number with detachable “claws,” à la the Marvel character, Wolverine.

Designer Aaron Brown made it especially for children and the removable, rounded plastic claws are completely safe.

Brown’s superhero-themed hand has received such a positive response that he’s now planning on designing an entire line of superhero-themed hands.

He told CNet,

I have plans for a few project hands — like a Military Wounded Soldier themed hand geared toward adults and to promote Veterans’ Hospitals, VWF Groups and American Legion Halls. I also want to do some more themed hands for kids… Batman, Iron Man, Captain America… we’ll see!

CNet points out the possibilities with design on the 3D-printed prosthetics are basically endless, so in the very near future, those with disabilities will not only be able to live their lives to the fullest, they’ll be able to choose how they want to look while doing it.

Now that’s a marvel idea.
